Back Country Fishing
The story on Key West back country fishing is lots of action and many different species ranging in size from 2 pounds to 202 pounds! Back country fishing by nature, is less technical than flats fishing, and allows the angler to fish in the beautiful, calm waters surrounding the flats and mangrove channels of the national marine sanctuary. The key words are Calm Water. This is similar to fishing on a lake at home with very little chance of rough water. These trips routinely produce outstanding catches of Tarpon, Permit, Snapper, Shark, and Barracuda, just to name a few.
Your trip starts in a modern 21' Sea-Pro which was specially built for the shallow back country fishing needs. These boats are powered by 150 hp Mercury outboards and have all the equipment to ensure you enjoy a successful fishing adventure. These trips are your perfect choice for both experienced anglers or family outings. Each boat can accommodate from 1 to 4 guests.
Flats Fishing
Flats fishing, although perceived as technical by nature, provides memories of a lifetime for even the most inexperienced of fisherman. True flats fishing is accomplished utilizing small skiffs with no more than two anglers. This enables the guide to pole across extremely shallow waters in search of the big three...Tarpon, Permit, and Bonefish. Anglers often equate true flats fishing to hunting. Success on the flats is measured by the ability to visually locate fish, to quietly approach to within casting distance, to precisely place your cast, and to masterfully play the fish during its long runs over the flats. The stalking of these elusive fish is always an adrenaline rush, but the landing of your trophy fish is truly a memory of a lifetime.
Flats boats can only accommodate one or two anglers along with the guide.

Take the high speed catamaran 70 miles west of Key West to the islands and waters of the Dry Tortugas National Park - the last of the Florida Keys and a remote treasure. It consists of seven tiny islands and the surrounding waters. When Ponce De Leon originally discovered these islands he named them "Las Tortugas" (meaning "the turtles" in Spanish) because of the abundance of sea turtles. Even though hunting drastically reduced their numbers, many varieties of the species are still present in the area.
Explore historic Fort Jefferson - the "Gibraltar of the Gulf." Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas National Park is America's largest 19th century coastal fort and is located on Garden Key Island. The Fort was built in the mid-1800's, with over 16 million bricks. Originally constructed to protect the important Gulf of Mexico shipping lanes, Fort Jefferson was used as a military prison during the Civil War. During this time, it was "home" to Dr. Samuel Mudd, who was convicted of complicity in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
