Snorkel South Inlet Park Boca Raton
Hello fellow snorkel enthusiasts! This past weekend we explored a fantastic snorkel site in South Boca Raton located about 1/2 way between South Inlet Park and the Deerfield Beach Pier. We saw non-stop eel's, puffer fish, squid, octopus and ton's of fish. LAST SUNDAY WE HAD OVER 50 PEOPLE SHOW UP FOR THIS SNORKEL!!! The plan: Park at South Inlet Park ($6/car on weekends - $4/car during the week) - Deerfield Beach is a quarter per 10 minutes- if you can find a spot). I recommend carpooling and would love to carpool with people, I live in Boynton Beach. =) Go to the beach and walk South about 1/4 mile. You will see three identical white apartment buildings. The first two have a large gap between them. That is where you will find us. We will swim out about 150 feet so you need to bring a dive flag and we will buddy up at the beach. The site is an artificial reef of giant boulder like structures (you can clearly see them from space using Google Earth - very cool). You will see giant Sea Urchins the size of basketballs all over the place, very large puffer fish, and tons of other tropical fish, schooling fish and other sea life. This reef is in about 6-12 feet of water. We will stay on this reef for about an hour maybe more and then some of us will swim up to the natural reef right to the north. Then if people are interested we can walk back up towards the park where another artifical reef is located at the south end of the park and then explore it. These reefs are often used by glass bottom boat tours because they are so colorful and full of amazing sea life. Afterwards we may get lunch at a local restaurant. Maybe JB's. Please plan to arrive by 10 am you will need about 10-15 minutes to walk to the location. We will be entering the water promptly at 10:15. Parking (NO NEED FOR QUARTERS... YEAH!!) As usual, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me at 561-573-6516 (please after 4 on weekdays now that I'm back at work). And PLEASE CALL IF YOU CAN'T FIND US!!! I hope to see everyone there! Thanks, Craig Directions From the North 95 to Palmetto Park road east to A1A (ocean blvd) A1A south. Just after Camino Real Road the park will be on your left. From the South 95 to Hillsbough east Take it to A1A (ocean blvd) and turn north. You will pass the Deerfield beach pier and then after a bunch of Apartment the park will be on your right just after you enter the city of Boca Raton.
