Aluminum will leave you lost for words - but âamazingâ, âfascinatingâ and âincredibleâ are just some of the ways in which critics have tried to describe the show. Devised by Ilan Azriel, a former dancer in Tel Avivâs Inbal Company who has let his imagination run riot on the theme of aluminum in all its various industrial forms, it is a joyous fantasy incorporating dance, puppetry and special effects to create a fabulous spectacle. With the assistance of a skilful and flexible cast of dancers, acrobats and athletes, worms slither menacingly across the stage; huge pillows float cloudlike through the air; a giant stalks the auditorium; two pipes tenderly woo each other⦠Just when you think youâve seen it all, a new scenario develops to enchant and enthral you. Since it was first performed at the Israel Festival in Jerusalem in 2003, Aluminum has toured Israel, Argentina and the Netherlands, as well as taking up lengthy residencies in Athens, Greece, and Lisbon, Portugal. This year, it was also invited to open The 19th Macau Dance Festival and to appear at the Ankara Music Festival in Turkey. The show has been greeted with wonder and delight wherever it travels, with critics comparing it to the Blue Man Group and Stomp. But Aluminum is something you have to see for yourself, because it really is a show like no other. A spectacular phenomenon which will keep the whole family entertained, donât miss it as it embarks on its first tour of the UK.
