Tiger Tiger - Portsmouth
Tiger Tiger’s own brand of super-venue hits the heart of Portsmouth in typical style. Less romantic dining than pre-club-in-club dinner, Tiger Tiger is a well known brand on the Big Night Out scene. With more than enough room to swing a very big cat and pumping music blasted out across its two floors you could be forgiven for expecting a meat market. On the contrary, Tiger Tiger is flirty, fun and ideal for the young, style conscious diner. The Grill is inspired by the good old Manhattan loft. So burgers, steaks and salads rule while a little Asian inspiration adds a little spice. Puurrrfect.

8 Kings Road
8 Kings Road restaurant is Southsea’s first destination restaurant. More than a million pounds was spent transforming this former bank into a beautiful, superbly stylish yet unpretentious restaurant, a very modern blend of relaxed ambience, high style and professional finesse. Head Chef Karl Byron, formerly Just St James’s, sources the best ingredients from Britain and Europe to create his own French/English cuisine in signature dishes like starter of Cornish crab and avocado with mango and chilli (menu listings deal in straight talk), and main course of honey-glazed pork with bubble & squeak, apple and cinnamon. 8 Kings Road’s stellar wine list is judiciously priced. Irresistible lunch menu.

Tootsies - Portsmouth
Situated on Portsmouth's north promenade, with a great view over the port and out to sea, Tootsies' large patio is a prime summer spot. Regulars like to gaze up at Portsmouth's newest attraction, the Spinnaker Tower at the Gunwharf Quays, over a glass of wine. Folding patio doors that open up in summer mean that you can sit inside and outside at the same time. On colder days, the dark wood and cream interior is a stylish and warm environment, complimented by friendly staff and a buzzy vibe. The food? Classic American diner comfort fort, with an emphasis on chargrills and big burgers, like the works (£9.95), with bacon, cheese, onion, pineapple, egg and beetroot. Good stuff.

The Waterfront Brasserie
The Waterfront Brasserie is set within Portsmouth's premier shopping complex, Gunwharf Keys, located within the city's Historic Dockyard. This stylish restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is the perfect place for pre/post shopping meals and drinks with friends. The dining room at The Waterfront Brasserie enjoys sweeping views of the harbour, boasts a delightful al fresco terrace, and is decorated with wooden floors, chic sage green leather chairs and dark wooden tables. We love the modern-Euro menu - created by the former Head Chef from London's Mezzo – and signature dishes include the warm crispy duck and bacon salad with plum sauce, and the saffron risotto with smoked salmon and spring onions.
