Your train from London's King's Cross Station whizzes you due North passing through the Midlands and its canals and market towns, then past old mill towns built during the Industrial Revolution before skirting England's East coast to arrive at the Royal City of Edinburgh. Right by the station you can board the open-top sightseeing bus where you'll get a bird's eye view of the city. Your hop-on hop-off ticket allows you the freedom to leave and re-join the bus as often as you like over a 24 hour period - frequent departures throughout the day mean you have total flexibility to plan your day the way YOU choose!
You'll see all the main sights, attractions and landmarks of this lovely City, including the Old Town quarter, the Scotch Whisky Heritage Center, the Scott Monument decorated with 64 statues of characters from Walter Scott's novels, the Palace of Holyrood House where state ceremonies and official entertaining take place when the Queen is in Scotland (though it has its own murderous history!) and the brand new Scottish Parliament Building.
You might want to wander through the cobbled City center streets, visit St Giles's Kirk or John Knox's House or stroll along Princes Street checking out the tartan, whisky and shortbreads that have made Scotland famous!
Your tour includes tickets to Edinburgh Castle where you can live like a King for a day! The Castle was built high on a hill in the 11th Century, with spectacular rock face, so as to deter invaders and the view from the Castle walls across the City and beyond is spectacular. You can also see the Scottish Crown Jewels, believed to be the oldest crown jewels in Europe.
Your three star hotel is centrally located so you can choose your evening's entertainment - and what a choice there is! A wealth of cinemas, theatres, atmospheric bars and pubs and City events beckon. After breakfast at your Hotel you can spend the day in Edinburgh at your leisure exploring the city.
