Tosca
Tosca is one of Puccini's greatest operas, soaring and tender at times, harrowingly powerful at others. Tosca's lover, the artist Cavaradossi, is arrested and tortured by Scarpia the amoral Chief of Police, for helping an escaped prisoner. Scarpia is obsessed with Tosca and blackmails her into agreeing to give herself to him in exchange for Cavaradossi's freedom. Violated, she plots her revenge, but the consequences are more terrible than she can imagine.
