Valentine's 2008 most romantic places

Written by Eva Zavaro, TripTouch

There are some who would say a romantic place is where you find yourself with the one you love. That is why the small garden near your house, the late night corner news stand or even your favorite fast food restaurant can become the most romantic place you have ever been to. Here at TripTouch we are not sure about it, therefore we have gathered our most romantic places we were lucky enough to be in with our significant other or lucky enough to be alone and feel sorry for ourselves. Either way those remarkable sceneries we encountered put a wide smile on our faces.

 Island of Capri, Italy

Capri Italy photo Capri main village is the picturesque Anacapri, located at the top of a marvelous cliff. Stroll along its narrow streets passing by pizza places, fruit stands and flower shops and enjoy a full view of the beautiful island from above. In order to descent to the beaches below you can take a taxi or enjoy a near death experience on a local bus speeding down a narrow road which happens to be a two way street. Beating death will bring you closer together and laying on the sunny beach, enjoying what the island has to offer will no longer be a thing to belittle of. More info

 Cascais, Portugal

Cascais Portugal photo A beautiful coastal fishing town, stretching along 30 kilometers of rocky land and raging sea. Explore the long promenade, enjoy the breeze and sun, watch the joggers and the convertible cars passing by and the beautiful houses around. You can also unwind in the lovely Cascais beach, just be sure to keep your eyes on your partner in order to avoid unnecessary confrontations. In the evening visit the town itself which offers exclusive boutiques, lovely coffee shops and one very sweet chocolate store. More info

 Masai Mara, Kenya

Masai Mara, Kenya photo Exploring Masai Mara reserve is a one time experience to share with the one you love. You might think you have seen everything there is concerning animals on the discovery channel, but massive herds of gnus, elephants and zebras approaching a water source, flocks of prying birds hovering above and feasting lions six feet away are much more impressive in real life. A romantic way to enjoy this entire reserve is on a hot air balloon tour cruising early in the morning, marveling the beautiful sunrise colors of red and purple, watching Kenya waking up. More info

After hiking among streams and forests, organize a picnic by the river, watch the stars lying together by your tent and pretend you know where Cassiopeia is. Don't worry, your companion will pretend she sees it too. After all the hard work hiking the area, explore Milford Sound by a romantic boat tour spending the night in a double bed cabin enjoying a hot shower and a courteous room service. More info

 Santorini, Greece

Santorini, Greece photo Ah, the island of Santorini, what a marvelous place to pass a romantic vacation. The golden beaches, the blue ocean and the bright white houses with blue cupolas scattered around a mighty volcano. Still, don't think that now that you are enjoying the tranquility and romantic atmosphere you won't have to make some tough decisions. The people of Santorini take the sunset very seriously, therefore you will have to choose whether you would want to watch the sunset from the beach, from a cafe up in the mountain or from a jacuzzi in your hotel especially designed to face westward. Indeed life is not easy. More info

Indeed Morro De Sao Paulo is the perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet as you crisp in the sun in one of the many beaches, sipping the local Asai (Brazilian fruit) energy shake. When you feel you had your rest take a crazy ride down the flying fox from the top of the hill, 68 meters high. The pampering here is endless, from luxury villas and private pools to beach huts and low-cost massages. In the evening you can choose one of the many restaurants, enjoying well cooked Thai food as the sun sets on the island. More info

Pacuare River, Costa Rica photo Here is your chance to do something completely different. You won't stop smiling as the water keeps crashing down upon you, everyone screaming and you fear that in a minute you will see the river up close. When everyone help to tie up the boats, there is no good feeling like standing on land wet and exhausted, like a plucked chick, still carrying the same smile on your face. In the evening you will have your quality time by taking a walk, camping by the river and enjoying a well deserved meal. More info
