  • Meotoiwa (夫婦岩). Also known as the Husband-and-Wife Rocks or the Wedded Rocks, these two rocks just offshore are tied together with a Shinto shimenawa rope weighing over a ton. The rocks are said to represent Izanagi and Izanami, the creator gods of Shinto myth, and the larger "male" rock has a small torii gate on top.

Futami is located between Ise and the popular tourist destination Toba, and is a popular stop off along that route.

By train

Futaminoura Station is a short ride from Ise Station or Ujiyamada Station on the JR line. You can also get there by regular bus from these stations and from Naiku. The CAN Bus also operates between Ise, Futami, and Toba.

If you take the train, Meotoiwa is a 15 minute walk from the station. The walk, mostly along the shoreline, is pleasant, though in winter a cold northerly wind is common. There are some souvenir and food stalls along the way.
