The Spring Festival in 2010 will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with renown musicians and artists. Since January 1996 the Budapest Festival Center Kht. has been the official organizer of various cultural events of the Municipality of Budapest. The three major annual festivals of BudapestâÂ"the Spring Festival, the Budapest Fair and the Autumn Festival have been organized, as the exclusive coordinator, by the Budapest Festival Center Kht.
The Budapest Spring Festival was launched a quarter of a century ago and since last year it has been officially classified in the top third of cultural festivals of international standing. This flattering classification was made by an independent professional body judging on the basis of strict principles, making its decision just as valuable as any prestigious award. It confirms that the series of events has fulfilled the hopes of its founders: with the attraction of a broad spectrum of the arts, an excellent selection of artists and works, a parade of world stars and young talents, it has made Budapest in early spring a popular destination for cultural tourism.
The Budapest Panorama was added to the World Cultural Heritage List by UNESCO. On your stay in the Hungarian metropolis, you will experience this unique view, while dinning on a cruise with music on the Danube!
The Danube, this very important and mighty river starting in Germany, flows through many capitals on its journey to the Black sea. In Budapest, it runs majestically through the center of the city, creating one of the finest panoramas on the continent. The DanubeâÂÂs embankment treasures the old and embraces the new. Here, history mingles with modernity. Budapest has many faces - this vibrant city calms down a little bit at nights, lights are lit up, and a new city emerges from the twilight. You are invited to take part in this 1,5-hour-long cruise with a concert including the most popular classical melodies.
The programme combines a dinner with romantic candlelight atmosphere and a concert on the Danube Cruise Ship. The salon music is performed by 3 members of the Kodaly Zoltan awarded Rajko Orchestra, including the world-famous violinist Zsigmond Vidak, who was awarded the Merit Cross of the Hungarian Republic. The music is played by a violin, a viola and a double bass.
During this cruise with concert, you can have a delicious warm buffet-dinner, which is prepared by Hungary's only Gault Millau-rated chef, Klöter Gregor-Grex. After the concert, you can also admire the panorama from the open upper deck of the ship. All of our ships are air-conditioned/heated.

The Royal Danish Ballet will perform two stunning works at the Budapest Spring Festival.
Bournonville: La Sylphide
Choreography: August Bournonville
Music: H.S. Løvenskiold
Set design: Mikael Melbye
A sylph is an ethereal being that has inhabited European mythology since the ancient Greeks. They are born of pure air and retain their ravishing and seductive beauty for more than 300 years. Sylphs are akin to elf girls and mermaids; they are supernatural, mystical beings that pose grave danger to the souls and minds of men. Sylphs cannot be possessed and may never be touched with erotic intent, lest they lose their crystalline wings and perish.
Balanchine: Symphony in C
Choreography: George Balanchine
Staging: Merrill Ashley and Stacey Cadell assisted by Heidi Ryom and Anne Holm Peyk Jensen
Music: George Bizet
Costume Design: Annette Nørgaard
A brilliant and sophisticated rush of classical ballet will bring the evening to a close when the entire company stages Symphony in C, one of the great finale ballets of the international repertoire and among BalanchineâÂÂs finest works.
At the Budapest Spring Festival 2010, outstanding soloists will join the world-famous Festival Orchestra and Iván Fischer in a performance of two of Beethoven's most pivotal works.
