For a glimpse into the rural life of colonial Chilean landowners, there is no better place to visit than Hacienda Los Lingues. You'll enjoy a tour of the grounds, a horse riding demonstration and also lunch either on the terrace or in the dining room. Located south of Santiago, this hacienda is a slice of history and well worth a visit.

Depart from Santiago towards the south through the agricultural heartlands of central Chile.

Hacienda Los Lingues is one of the oldest horse breeding farms in Chile dating back to the 17th Century. It's situated 126 km / 79 miles from Santiago, 32km from Rancagua. The visit includes a tour of the old manor house with its antique furniture, the chapel and the stables where the Chilean horses are bred.

Lunch is included - served under the trees of the colonial terrace or in the dining room during winter and in the afternoon there is a demonstration of Chilean horsemanship. For an additional cost it is possible to ride, fish or mountain bike around the estate before returning to Santiago.


Pablo Neruda Museum of Chile

The winner of the Nobel Prize for literature in 1971 was Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. On this tour, you will travel to the coastal town of Isla Negra where one of his houses still stands, and inside is a museum featuring some of his belongings. You will also visit the small village of Pomaire, renowned for pottery, sculptures and handicrafts.

Depart Santiago in the morning for a full day heading towards the coast. Enjoy the first stop in Pomaire, a small village where the inhabitants work the local clay to make a variety of dishes, pots and interesting sculptures amongst other handicrafts.

Continue to Isla Negra, a small beachside community with a pretty beach backed by fragrant pine trees. This is the place Chilean Nobel Prize for Literature winner Pablo Neruda chose to build one of his houses. The eccentric architecture houses some of his collections, including bottles, figureheads from ships, shells and various other eclectic articles.

There is time for lunch locally after the visit (not included) before returning to Santiago.
