The 10th Annual Truck Light Parade and Food Drive features festively decorated trucks that parade through the streets of the Capital Region with the goal of spreading goodwill and collecting nonperishable food items for the local food banks.
As it is not possible for the moving trucks to collect food and cash donations specially designated drop-off sites are set up at various points along the route. Over the years approximately 41 tons of food have been collected and $32,000.00 for distribution to various local food banks and charities.
As well as watching the Christmas Convoy in motion the public is again invited to gather at Western Speedway for the conclusion of the Parade. Admission is by nonperishable food item or cash donation. Coffee, hot chocolate, hot dogs and candy canes will also be available, by donation.
Over the years more and more people have come out to admire the trucks as the Christmas Convoy winds its way through the various communities. They are impressed by the wonderfully decorated trucks and the spirit of the season that this special event demonstrates. It is fast becoming one of the region's major Christmas attractions.
Location: The Truck Light Parade starts at Ogden Point at 5:45 pm, proceeds to Oak Bay, back through Victoria and out to the West Shore communities to finish at Western Speedway between 8:15 and 8:30pm.
