WordFest: Banff-Calgary International Writers Festival
Canadian and international writers gather to show off their talents and share tricks of the trade at one of Canada's hottest literary events.

A Literary Hotbed
The annual WordFest: Banff-Calgary International Writers Festival is Canada's third largest literary event of its kind showcasing more than 65 international and Canadian writers from a myriad of backgrounds, disciplines and genres. The five-day festival features a non-stop extravaganza of events held at various venues throughout Calgary and Banff.

Internationally recognized, WordFest is a mecca for emerging and established writers from around the world. Drawing from North America's, Mexico's, Europe's, Australia's and New Zealand's pool of literary heavyweights and up-and-comers.

What's Up
Free and paid events make up this years program. Each day of the festival has staggered events at a host of different venues with writers showing off their talents in engaging readings followed by discussions and question and answer periods.

Kid's Stuff
The educational component of the festival is as strong as ever. The Book Rapport program gives kids a chance to get up close and personal with the written word. In each 90-minute session, students interact directly with authors (young adult and children's) participating in readings, asking questions and getting involved with discussions.

Scenic Surroundings

WordFest events will also take place in the majestic surroundings of Banff National Park.
