Les Graff has a cabin about an hour's drive east of Red Deer on Buffalo Lake. He uses the back roads near the cabin as a source - never traveling more than 10 km to find something worth responding to. Later, in the studio, these “location works†serve as a basis for developing variations and inter-related series, adding to the work done on location, enlarged charcoal drawings and large oil canvasses.
