Itineraries: An Installation by Elaine Sedgman The ancients used to sail the Mediterranean using a literary tradition called periploi (literally âsailings aroundâ). These travelogues or periploi were made up of itineraries: stops along the route, significant markers.
In 2003, British Columbia artist, Elaine Sedgerman accompanied her neighbours as they walked the grasslands south of Kamloops, chronicling their walks with her 4X5 inch pinhole camera. The features within the landscape acted as âitinerariesâ - significant stops along the route; markers within their stories. This journey lead to the creation of an imaginative, collaborative, art installation which reflects Sedgerman's interest in the intimate memories and stories that fill the invisible margins within landscape.
Meet-the-Artist: Elaine Sedgerman August 10, 2-4 pm. Travel through the eyes of this BC artist and explore new connections with history. Refreshments will be served and everyone welcome to attend.
