Armada
In "Armada", Montserrat Figueras and the ensemble Hesperion XXI under the direction of Jordi Savall perform English and Spanish music by composers as Byrd, Dowland, Vasquez and many others.

In 1588, when the Spanish Armada (navy) went under at the coast of England, madrigals of the Catholic south spread over Protestant Britain as a musical newness. Referring to this historical paradox, Jordi Savall has arranged English and Spanish music from the Elisabethan Age in this special evening.

The styriarte festival invites you to a great programme combining Spanish and English madrigals at the Helmut-List-Hall in Graz.

Im Trio
In "Im Trio", Markus Schirmer & friends present chamber music by Schubert and Schostakowitsch at the great concert hall Stefaniesaal in Graz.

From Peter Guelke to Dieter Schnebel, many great intellectuals have written essays devoted to the musical flow in Schubert's late works. In this concert, the master trio under the direction of Markus Schirmer allows the music rather to speak for itself - for example in Schubert's wonderful Piano Trio in E flat Major. Furthermore, the trio will perform Schostakowitsch's E-minor Trio which was created by the great Russian composer, 120 years after Schubert, as a fervent denouncement of Stalinist Russia.

Enjoy an evening with expressive chamber compositions played by the great trio - Markus Schirmer & friends.

Mare nostrum
In "Mare nostrum", Jordi Savall and his ensemble HESPERION XXI play Music by Christians, Jews, and Muslims of the Mediterranean.

At times when Vienna's second district was still being influenced by the spirit of the Sephardic Jews, one could truly experience the culture of the Sephardis, a culture which spans many nations at the Mediterranean sea. Jordi Savall devotes his programme "Mare Nostrum" to the people who developed such a rich culture of music at the shores of the Mediterranean.

Jordi Savall and his ensemble invites you to a special evening with the sound and music of the Mediterranean.

Canal Grande
Under the direction of Rudolf Leopold, the ensemble Il Concerto Viennese and the soprano Helena Dearing present music by Vivaldi, Albinoni, Legrenzi and other composers.

Rudolf Leopold's baroque ensemble leads us on a musical tour from palazzo to palazzo on the Gran Canal in Venice. Vivaldi and Albinoni, Legrenzi and Galuppi - they all lived and worked amidst the canals of Venice; Vivaldi's apartment was actually on the Grand Canal with a view of the Rialto Bridge - and might have influenced some of his great compositions.

You are invited by Rudolf Leopold and his ensemble to a musical journey through the canals in Venice!
